This is the eighth in the series Travel Destinations in the USA for retired folks. This destination starts with the Letter H. The island paradise of Hawaii is a tropical haven. The island of Maui is the second-largest island in Hawaii. It is also known as The Valley Isle. Sunrise in Maui is the cherry on the cake in this beautiful travel destination.
I know – Hawaii is certainly not quiet or out of the way! I was going to suggest Hamilton Pool Preserve in Texas, but this year they are not allowing swimming in this beautiful place, so I zeroed in on Hawaii.
About Hawaii:
The reason I chose Hawaii as a travel destination in the USA for your retirement list is because of the weather. This tropical paradise is available to you in the United States. You don’t need to go anywhere “overseas” but of course, you do need to travel by air to Hawaii to get to this travel destination. Or you could do a cruise from San Francisco to Hawaii too. Cruise lines are active in this part of the country. Do weigh the covid risks and the time you have on hand before making this decision.
Hawaii has eight main islands and many smaller ones. The weather is great in all these places. Maui is a great place to vacation on your Hawaiian Island destination. It’s not too bustling, it’s a place you can take in the culture and relax at the same time. The sunrise in Maui and the sunsets are equally breathtaking.
Take in the history and of course Hula dancing. We do recommend you take in the Old Lahaina Luau if this will be your first time in Maui. It’s a lovely way to get introduced to the Hawaiian culture and food and dance
Things to Do in Maui:
You can take in the wildlife, snorkel, zipline, golf on its beautiful courses, swim with the turtles or laze around the beach – Wailea Beach, Kaanapali Beach in Maui. Take a drive on the Road to Hana and absorb the spectacular scenery along the coast.
Sunrise in Maui:
They even have a dormant volcano to explore. The Haleakala Crater is visible throughout Maui. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular here. You can view either from the Haleakala Visitors Center. If this doesn’t satisfy you, a helicopter tour should do it!
You can find great hotels here and plan your activities as you like them. As a retired person, you will definitely enjoy your trip to see the sunrise in Maui in the Hawaiian Islands.
Such lovely pictures and amazing places to visit. Hope travelling comes back to normal soon so I can visit these places.
